CUTTING-EDGE COUNTRY MUSIC
The Talking Hearts are a cutting-edge honky tonk band from Boston. Channeling the spirit of country music icons Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, and George Jones, the Talking Hearts play witty and relatable ‘psychoanalytic country’ songs written by fiddler Rachel Rosenberg about folks who’ve done her wrong.
Their new album Memory Lane (out October 9) showcases the thick three-part harmony singing of Rachel, Zach Meyer (mandolin, piano) and Sophie Wellington (guitar), while bassist Dan Bui and drummer Mike Harmon lay down an infectious rhythmic groove and Alex Formento adds that sweet lonesome texture on pedal steel or telecaster. Prepare to be transported to an early 1960s honky tonk, going back and forth between falling in love with your dance partner and contemplating your fate over yet another round at the bar.
The Talking Hearts have brought two-step tradition home, becoming locally known for their popular Honky Tonk Tuesday residency in Somerville’s Burren Backroom. At their lively shows, the Hearts will get you on your feet in no time with their catchy originals and favorite classic country gems. Pull up your cowboy boots, grab a friend, and head on over to the dance floor!
“For a bit of country string band twang, check out… the Talking Hearts, an absolutely stacked genre-blending group based in Boston. ‘You Didn’t Make Me Cry’… is a danceable ’90s-style track that turns a bad situation into a great song. Isn’t that what country does best?” - The Bluegrass Situation
