Cutting-Edge Country Music
The Talking Hearts are a cutting-edge honky tonk band from Boston. Channeling the spirit of country music icons Hank Williams, Loretta Lynn, Buck Owens, and George Jones, The Talking Hearts play witty and relatable original songs written by fiddler Rachel Rosenberg about folks who’ve done her wrong. Their lively performances showcase the thick harmony singing of Rachel and multi-instrumentalist Zach Meyer, whose catchy hooks make new songs feel familiar the first time you listen. Together, Zach (mandolin), Sophie Wellington (guitar and vocals), Dan Bui (upright bass), and Mike Harmon (drums) lay down an infectious rhythmic groove while Alex Formento adds that sweet lonesome texture on pedal steel. You can hear the group’s musical chemistry on their debut album, Over Your Spell, featuring ten instant country classics!
If that ain’t country… • The Boston Globe
My heart already broke like twice just reading the track titles. • Wayward Jerry
Over Your Spell has the perfect amount of classic country thematic melodrama that any lover of Hank Williams or Buck Owens will love. [It] draws on that overly dramatized lonesome feeling most of us have felt at some point in our life and then somehow transforms it into an infectious dance fever. I felt an instant connection. • Austin Scelzo, 2023 Connecticut Arts Hero
We love it, we think it’s amazing, we just think it’s great, we can’t wait to hear it again. • Geoff and Sarah
Album sounds great, man. The punchline in Choose Your Woman Wisely is pretty solid wordplay. But I really like the tempo and plucking on The Trouble with Running. Ok, nevermind, Tryin’ to Try is my fav and it’s not even close. This song speaks to me.” • Eric
I just finished listening to Over Your Spell - the music is great, the lyrics are so interesting, the variety is amazing, and the whole thing is just beautiful. • Rachel’s grandma
Over Your Spell is like a good movie - each time I play it, there’s something I didn’t pick up on the time before. • Henry
